Hand Painted Wooden Boxes

Over the summer a good friend invited darling and I to go to Island Art Party with her and her granddaughter. I instantly fell in love with acrylics and this opened up a whole new world of crafting fun with darling daughter.

One thing about us is that we are never afraid to try something new and will always expand on what we learn. We also both have the passion to make everything around us a bit more colorful by adding personal touches. And with so much art supplies, we are always on the lookout for how to organize things.

Darling is drawn to wood boxes and we selected a few that are the perfect size for little jewelry boxes or for organizing any small treasure of your liking. To make them more snazzy, we each selected a few and hand painted the box tops with acrylics in a image that spoke to us.

Today I am featuring my Texas flag box. My inspiration was the wooden star I had painted white for another project but never used as something else seemed to fill the spot better. As I turned the star around and around in my hand I thought of the Texas flag and got to work with darling eagerly painting beside me.

Tie Dye Tips

Tie dye can be messy business but it is fun. My daughter is the tie dye pro and over summer break, she talked me into giving this colorful adventure I try. I splurged on a tie dye kit, bought us some plain white tees, and was instantly hooked. She wisely advised us to protect our work area with plastic and we like to do our messy craft outdoors on the picnic table. Moms, this is a MESSY fun project! You can tie dye practically anything. Beyond the tees, I made myself tie dye handkerchiefs which I love to bring to mass when I get teary eyes and my daughter has tie dyed canvas shoes and a baby pad for her horse! A Rosary Story - Blue and Red Glass Bead Single Decade Rosary

There is a story behind every rosary I make. Every bead, centerpiece, and crucifix is selected based upon a central theme or idea. Today I want to share the story behind my blue and red glass bead single decade rosary . Most of my rosaries are constructed out of plastic beads mainly to keep them lighter in your hands when you pray but sometimes holding something with more weight to it can be soothing. Plus I believe there is a tactile element to praying the rosary. I often find myself massaging the beads between my fingers as I move along in prayer reflecting on Jesus' life. But did you know you can use the rosary for more than saying the rosary? The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is another beautiful prayer and you can join Drew Mariani in saying it daily on Relevant Radio . In fact, he is the one who helped me fall deeper in love with this prayer and this rosary is inspired by my love for this prayer. The blue and red symbolize the water and blood flowing from Jesus' pierce...

Sewn Masks - Comfort Masks you can make at home

When I first heard about sewing masks I was hesitant due to the fact that I know they do not offer the same protection as masks that can be purchased. Without going into details about all the different levels of masks, I am now offering my process for sewing comfort masks. And yes, I changed my mind when a friend asked me to sew her some masks. I was not immediately convinced but she got me going when she basically said, Erica, something is better than nothing and we need help. I was also torn as my email inbox has been bombarded with buy this emails and I feel in these times trying to get anyone to buy anything is wrong. I want to help you so I am putting together how I am making masks. I reviewed many patterns and pretty much chose one that I could do with the materials I had at home and as much as I love the masks with pockets to add additional filtration, such as vacuum bags, I don't own stuff like that so I am going for basic comfort masks. If you have a sewing machine a...
